Do YOU Want to Pee Alone?

You know you're a mom when a solo bathroom break turns into a luxury. In the last almost-ten years, I've had four children, which means that I haven't taken a dump in peace in roughly a decade. Even if I close and lock the door, there are always fingers underneath it, or a little mouth pressed to the crack saying, "Mommy. What are you doing, Mommy?"

I'm in the bathroom, kid. What do you think I'm doing - whipping up a meal?

(Come to think of it, if I'm locked in the bathroom there's actually a distinct possibility I may be hiding to eat a candy bar or something, but whatever.)

Anyway, it is this universal experience of parenthood that prompted Jen Mann of People I Want to Punch in the Throat to compile a hilarious, heartwarming series of books that all mothers can relate to. (The first in the series, I Just Want to Pee Alone, just hit the New York Times bestseller list!) Then came the equally funny I Just Want to Be Alone. But I have to admit: I'm most excited about the brand-new third volume, I Still Just Want to Pee Alone ... because I'M IN IT!!

*jazz hands*

Here's a shot of the cover - if you click to enlarge it, you can see the entire lineup of phenomenal writers from blogs you know and love. I'm still in shock to be listed among these amazing women ... I feel like Jen is going to email me and be like, "Sorry Rita, your essay just squeaked in by accident."

Seriously, these are some of the funniest, most talented writers on the Internet. But don't take my word for it - see for yourself when you pick up your copy of the book, because it's OFFICIALLY AVAILABLE TODAY!! You can buy it in paperback or Kindle edition at Amazon.com by clicking the link here or in the sidebar to the right of this post ...
... or it's also available on iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. (Clicking on each of those links will take you directly to the page.)

This is a great book to share with all the moms in your life - even your own (hey, Mother's Day is coming up!). There's nothing better than knowing we're all in this together, and that every mother has her moments. Hook yourself - and somebody you love - up with a copy.

Then lock yourself in the bathroom to read it and tell your family you're peeing alone for a change.

  2. OMG, I am all too familiar with this. My bathroom apparently has become a social gathering place for anyone under six years old. Even the dog wants to join in on the fun. Thanks for the book suggestions, I'll definitely check those out. Best to laugh at our lives.
I also wanted to let you know that I admire very much your blog and writing style. You are truly an inspiration to me. I just started blogging a year ago because I love to write and it truly is a liberating feeling to have so many others reading as well.
I know it's silly, and you don't have to do it. I was just curious with regards to some of the questions I included in the following to get to know some fellow bloggers a bit more. But I included your blog in my post of the Sisterhood Of The World Bloggers as one of the greatest blogs I've come across. You don't need to partake, but I would be honored.

Commenting makes you big and strong! Okay, maybe just strong. Okay, so it's only your fingers. But still ...
