The Blue-Crayon Blues

Somebody in this house (*coughCameroncough*) has in his grubby possession a blue crayon. And I don't like it. I've confiscated it like a hundred times, but somehow it keeps finding its way back into his evil clutches and marking up every available surface when I'm not looking.

I think the blasted blue crayon is multiplying, which would explain how he always seems to have a piece of it. First it broke in half. Then I think it may have broken into thirds. And each piece gets carefully stashed somewhere by my conniving little almost-two-year-old so that it may be brought out later and used when Mommy's back is turned.

Here's a sampling of some of the places I've found blue scribbles:

All I have to say is ... thank God it's washable.

  1. Ok thats is like the #3 reason why I am scared to have kids!

  2. When my youngest did this I gave him a Magic Eraser and made him clean everything himself. He actually enjoyed the cleaning, but he NEVER colored on anything but paper again!

(Now he's on to sticking stickers everywhere. *sigh*)

  3. It will all be worth it when he sells his first Masterpiece! *fingers crossed for you*

  4. LOL! That silly blue crayon...have you been throwing it away?? Maybe that is what needs to happen...or you could be really mean and make him watch as your burn it down. If nothing else, it will be fun for you too!

  5. Stopping in from SITS. I thought I was following you already, but I guess not. I have 3 boys, too, so I can sympathize with the craziness.

My boys drew all over their bedroom wall with crayon- their TEXTURED bedroom wall. It was impossible to get out. Even magic erasers didn't work.

  6. I have a similar problem. My son is getting washable crayons for Christmas!

    Stopping by from SITS!

  7. So cute - from way over here. Glad its not my daughter, though. She prefers black ink pen. And apparently drawing on herself. I picked her up the other night and the babysitter told me that she had drawn a smiley face - on HER face. Her WHOOOOOOOLE FACE!!!

  8. Meagan - There are tons of things about parenting that are downright frightening ... but it's all worth it, I promise. :) (I know everybody says that, but it really is true!)

Happy Hermit - Thanks for your sympathy! :)

Julie - The sticker thing: ugh! I hear you on that one ... in fact, I've got that lined up as a blog post! And good idea about the Magic Eraser!

Sarah - I think when he sells that masterpiece he should give me 50% of the profits ... you know, as a "thanks-for-cleaning-up-my-incessant-messes" gift. ;)

WM - I normally just try to put it out of his reach because his big brother uses it, too. Problem is, though, hardly anything is out of his reach any more! I'm constantly removing him from climbing on something.

Shell - Three boys is no joke, is it?!? And my third is just an infant! You make me sooo glad we don't have textured paint. :)

JDaniel4's Mom - I appreciate you stopping by - and leaving a comment! And yes - as far as crayons are concerned, I will NEVER buy anything that isn't washable! I've got too many surfaces at stake!

Jenna - Yes. It was snow. Don't you want to come up here? :)

Charisse - Lorelli is so funny! At least it was a smiley face she drew, right?

  12. Oh my gosh, what a mess! I'm so glad it's washable. Reminds me of the time you painted your Fisher-Price dollhouse with my nail polish! LOL

  13. Wow he sure got around with that crayon! It is amazing how slick they are when an eyeball isn't on them watching them every second of the day. Very, very creative. Remind youself that someday you can show his nekkid baby pictures to his very first girlfriend. Getting even is SO worth it.

  19. Thank goodness for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They've saved me from many a crayon markings. And marker too. And...well, basically everything you can think of.

  20. I'm scared to type this for all to see but that is something my kids never really did. They do all kinds of other stuff they shouldn't but they don't draw on walls, furniture, etc.
